Job Summary/Purpose:

The COVID-19 LPN reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. The COVID-19 Clinician provides clinical support at COVID testing and vaccination sites as well as outpatient infusion clinic. The LPN performs multi-skilled activities to support the safe and efficient testing of patients for COVID-19, vaccination against COVID-19 and in a clinic setting administering outpatient COVID treatments. The COVID-19 Clinician is expected to perform: IV starts, patient care documentation, nasopharyngeal (PCR) swabbing, nasal swabbing, blood draws for antibody testing, antigen testing, and other testing methodologies as directed. The COVID-19 Clinician will be provided with all appropriate training and safety protocols.

Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. One year of LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Additional Requirements (Specific to COVID-19):

•While wearing all necessary PPE for safety, the COVID-19 Testing Clinician must be willing to test and interact with potentially COVID-positive patients.

•Willingness to abide by all MUSC PPE and safety protocols

•Must be able to wear an N-95 mask for periods possibly exceeding two hours

•Must be willing to commute distances up to or exceeding two hours – with a hotel and mileage reimbursement provided when applicable

•Must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
