Job Description Summary
Will maintain emergency department and medical floor behavioral health consultations at various campuses. Must complete comprehensive assessments and work well with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients are provided appropriate services. • Evaluate patients at various MUSC healthcare facilities. • Provide timely and comprehensive assessments of patients in the emergency department and other inpatient areas as needed. • Communicate with physicians and treatment team to facilitate hospital admissions or provide appropriate resources at time of discharge • Maintain thorough documentation to include findings, recommendations, and outcome. • Comply with all hospital policies and maintain professional standards
Job Description
Master’s degree in Social Work, Rehabilitative Counseling, Psychology, or related field
Minimum three (3) years of psychiatric social work or counseling experience in a hospital setting
Emergency department experience
Individual, family, marriage and group therapy, or private practice exposure
Prior experience and knowledge with the intake process to include, crisis intervention, psychological and risk assessments, hospital admission processes, psychiatric diagnoses, substance use and addictions, and crisis intervention
Must possess skills necessary to assess patients of any age
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and staff
Understanding of EMTALA guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and third-party payer knowledge preferred.
