        Job Description Summary

        MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.

        The Healthcare Data Engineer III serves as a primary technical architect and strategic partner to the Director of Operational Performance. In this role, you will function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data architecture, bridging the gap between complex backend systems and actionable business intelligence. This is a dynamic, high-impact position designed for a problem-solver who is eager to move beyond simple reporting and into predictive analytics and statistical modeling. You will navigate the full data lifecycle from engineering robust data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric to designing executive-level dashboards that drive decision-making across the enterprise.

        Job Description

        Under general supervision, this individual performs advanced data engineering, analytics, and reporting functions. The Healthcare Data Engineer is responsible for the integrity, accessibility, and usability of data within the MCP network.

         

        Reporting to the Director of Operational Performance, you will collaborate with leadership to transform raw data into meaningful insights. You will be responsible for understanding where data lives, the native capabilities of source systems (such as Epic), and how to leverage external tools to build scalable solutions. This role requires high adaptability, as you will pivot between foundational data engineering, ad-hoc financial analysis, and sophisticated modeling projects depending on business needs.

         

        Data Architecture & Management: Oversee the design, maintenance, and security of the organization's data estate, including SQL databases and Microsoft Fabric capacities. Ensure data models are scalable, efficient, and accurate.

         

        Statistical Analysis & Predictive Modeling: Go beyond historical reporting by designing predictive models and statistical forecasts. You will identify correlations in clinical and financial data to anticipate operational bottlenecks, validate strategic initiatives, and support complex proformas.

         

        Advanced Analytics & Reporting: Develop and manage a comprehensive suite of automated reports and dashboards. Utilize advanced DAX and visualization best practices to render complex datasets into clear, actionable metrics for diverse stakeholders.

         

        Operational & Financial Strategy: Partner with the finance and operations teams to validate data integrity and identify opportunities for performance improvement.

         

        Strategic Growth Support: Collaborate with business development and leadership to analyze data regarding new opportunities, partnerships, and network expansion.

         

        Process Innovation: Identify manual or inefficient processes within the reporting infrastructure and implement automated solutions using tools like Azure Data Factory and Power Automate.

         

        Must be able to work and collaborate effectively with teams across the MUSC Health System.

         

        Minimum Education and Experience:

         

        Bachelor’s Degree Required with 8-10 years’ experience in healthcare analytics or analytics in healthcare adjacent industry. Experience with EHR-based reporting preferred, Epic experience preferred.

        Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

                    Required:

        • Certification and/or expressed proficiency or master of SQL language

        • Certification and/or expressed proficiency or master of DAX language

        • History of mastery in PowerBI Visualization

        Preferred Skills / Certifications:

        • Microsoft Fabric

        • Power Automate

        • Statistical Modeling

        • Epic Certification or Proficiency in: Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito and Resolute PB - Preferred

        • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
