Job Description

Provide safe and effective ground transport for neonatal and pediatric patients requiring critical care. As a vital member of the pediatric transport team, you'll participate in all aspects of patient care during assessment, treatment, packaging, and transfer. Operate and maintain MUSC’s specialized dual-mission Freightliner ambulance, capable of transporting two patient types and accommodating up to eight providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive and maintain the pediatric critical care ambulance.

  • Assist flight crew in minimizing lift time by efficiently loading and unloading equipment.

  • Ensure safe ground transport of the team and equipment following patient hand-off.

  • Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and functionality of all vehicle equipment and supplies.

  • Participate in community outreach and educational programs hosted by MUSC.

  • Uphold MUSC's standards of professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

  • Complete all mandatory certifications and ongoing training as directed by the Transport Manager and Medical Director.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of South Carolina.

  • NREMT certification required.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or equivalent (e.g., ARC CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider).

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of EMT experience (preferred but not required).

Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion

The Advanced Fetal Care Center ensures that families expecting babies with complex congenital birth defects or medical problems receive care from board-certified maternal-fetal medicine providers collaborating with a large multidisciplinary care team of pediatric specialists. The PTWP care is one of only a handful of women’s facilities in the country to offer couplet-care rooms, where newborns and mothers can recover together in an intensive-care setting.
