Position Overview

The Financial Accounting Manager plays a significant role in ensuring the maximum value of the MUSC Workday solution. This role will provide strategic vision and thought leadership for Financial Accounting while adapting to market trends and business needs. Specifically, the primary objective for this role is to utilize expert knowledge and best practices to deliver solutions aligned with MUSC mission, core values and culture     

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Liaise with senior leadership to provide strategic input and recommendations for growth, innovation, and overall improvement within Financial Accounting
• Recommend best practices and provide sound solutions to support Financial Accounting related items in Workday
• Responsible for maintenance and configuration of Workday Accounting including journals, allocations, receipt accruals, depreciation, and intercompany settlements
• Lead the day-to-day delivery of technology enabled financial accounting
• Support financial reporting functions for cost centers including manager financial reporting and metrics, and spend analytics
• Liaise with audit teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of all statutory obligations
• Maintain and oversee 1099 category mapping and reporting for assigned companies
• Collaborate and partner cross-functionally across multiple departments and teams to understand business needs and to assess Workday configuration feasibility and impact to other business processes, integrations, or security
• Provide in-depth analyses with interpretive thinking to define problems & develop innovative solutions
• Maintain data accuracy and integrity within the system through regular review and audits
• Document business requirements, functional and technical specifications
• Responsible for timely identification and escalation of risks and development of alternative technical and functional approaches when necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
• Understanding of Financial Accounting
• Possess strong willingness to learn and ability to jump in feet first
• Microsoft Office Proficient
