Job Description
The Certified Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Specialist II of the Clinical Neurophysiology Services Department reports to the IONM Senior Manager. The IONM Specialist records by means of electronic equipment, neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. The IONM Specialist II must demonstrate competence and work under the indirect supervision of the IONM Specialist III, IONM Coordinator, or physician who must be immediately available for assistance during all procedures.
A bachelor's degree in a health science, or an associate's degree with one or more neurodiagnostic registries (R. EEG, R. EP, R. NCS); or completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program that is CAAHEP accredited, and one or more neurodiagnostic registries (R. EEG, R. EP, R. NCS) required. Must have a Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Intraoperative monitoring and perform multi-modality complex Intraoperative monitoring for advanced IONM procedures, including Cortical mapping, phase reversal, dorsal rhizotomies, and DBS. Must take call. May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends. Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients.
