Hours Per Week: 40

 

HVAC:

Monitor, maintain, adjust, and repair MUSC-owned or leased HVAC systems to ensure safety, environmental control, and efficient operation. Requires working knowledge of HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), drives, motors, pumps, and refrigeration units.

 

Electrical:

Monitor, maintain, adjust, and repair MUSC-owned or leased electrical distribution systems to ensure the safety and reliability of normal and emergency power systems. Requires working knowledge of electrical systems, including generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), motor control centers (MCC), drives, motors, distribution centers, and distribution panels. This position is considered Essential Personnel during a disaster.

 

General Maintenance:

Journeyman-level position responsible for maintaining and repairing buildings and facilities throughout MUSC during peak and non-peak hours. Performs corrective maintenance and repairs ranging from minor to extensive within assigned zones using power and hand tools, in accordance with established instructions and trade practices.

Minimum Training and Education:

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent

Work Experience: 3 years

Required Licensure/Certifications:

• EPA Section 608 Certification for HVAC
• Mechanical Contractor License (EL Classification) for Electrical

• Ability to carry objects, unassisted, on a plane, on ladders, upstairs, etc., weighing 50 lbs. or less. (Frequent)
• Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous)
• Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. (Continuous)
• Ability to perceive colors accurately. (Continuous)
• Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous)
• Ability to operate winches, come-alongs, jacks, etc. (Continuous)
• Ability to maintain dexterity in order to use hand tools, both manual and powered. (Continuous)
• Ability to push or pull equipment carts. (Frequent)
• Ability to work in a latex safe environment. (Continuous)
• Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use as required. (Continuous)
• Physical requirements may differ depending on the trade or position
