Job Description Summary
Performs moderate and high complexity testing under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager. This position performs routine laboratory testing, quality control testing, general and instrument maintenance, calling of critical and questionable results to appropriate providers, and resulting of test using laboratory information systems. Additionally, this role performs general troubleshooting of instrumentation, communicating technical information to appropriate persons. This position also helps with evening workflow and processing of pre-analytical processing of biological specimens in Central Lab Receiving.
Job Description
Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: An Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If not certified, must be registry eligible and enrolled to take certification exam during the first year of employment
