Job Description

MUSC Health is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine team serving Beaufort and Bluffton, South Carolina. This position is fully supported by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and offers the opportunity to practice within a highly collaborative, academically affiliated health system alongside experienced physicians and clinical team members.

About MUSC Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine:

The MUSC Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine is recognized for comprehensive and patient-centered respiratory and sleep care, offering access to a broad spectrum of subspecialty services.

Advanced pulmonary diagnostics and lung disease management

Accredited sleep centers with comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services

Multidisciplinary care for COPD, asthma, and interstitial lung disease

Bronchoscopy and advanced airway procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program with current licensure or eligibility for licensure in South Carolina.

  • Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as a Nurse Practitioner with the SC Board of Nursing.

  • Requires certification in BLS

  • APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law

  • DHEC and DEA license

Position Highlights:

  • Monday-Friday, typical clinical hours

  • No call

  • 100% outpatient pulmonary clinic

  • Manage chronic respiratory diseases including asthma, COPD, emphysema, tuberculosis, and lung cancer

  • Access to advanced diagnostic services: Pulmonary function testing, lab services, X-ray, and mobile CT

  • Full spectrum of bronchoscopy (hospital-based), including navigational bronchoscopy and EBUS

  • On-site comprehensive Pulmonary Function Lab

  • Sleep Medicine Center located within the medical office building

  • Evaluation and treatment of sleep apnea and other sleep-related disorders

  • Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline

  • Initiates referrals to other health care provides, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician

  • Documents and bills for direct care provided

  • Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
