Job Summary/Purpose: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse III provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the proficient level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. The proficient nurse consistently models excellence in patient care and contributes to unit leadership.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of two years of work experience as a registered nurse required. Certification in specialty area within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged.  RNIIIs prior to 06/30/13 may remain in the RNIII role provided there is a continuous participation in the program; if RNIII lapses, no longer eligible to participate.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
