Job Summary/Purpose: Perform complex technical scanning utilizing cardiac ultrasound. Imaging acquisition is composed of M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler and Color Flow Doppler to complete an Echocardiogram. Anatomic and physiologic data of the heart are vital importance in the diagnosis of various types of heart disease. Recognizing the disease states, knowing how to operate the equipment, and obtaining optimal studies is dependent on the echo technologist.

Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience and ARDMS or CCI registry eligible. One year of training/experience in performing cardiac ultrasound procedures both 2D and Doppler preferred. Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamics desired.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) within the first year of employment required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
