We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Technician to manage and oversee the daily operations in one of our clinics. The Ophthalmic Technician Lead will be responsible for supervising a team of ophthalmic technicians, ensuring the highest standard of patient care, and assisting in various diagnostic and clinical procedures. This role requires a blend of leadership skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of ophthalmology.

Job Description

$2,000 Sign-On for COA External Applicants

COA/ COT lead position:

Job Summary/Purpose:  The COA/COT lead will perform advanced medical history, checks patient's visual acuity, dilates patient's eyes and assist with office surgical procedures. They will also perform basic slit-lamp exam, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, and refractometry with the equipment within the clinic. Maintains complete and accurate information in the patient's medical record. Prepares and maintains exam rooms to ensure they are adequately stocked with supplies and that all equipment and instruments are in proper working order. The COA/COT lead will help with screening patient phone calls and assist with answering patient questions. Perform other related duties incidental to the work.

Additional Job Description

COA/ COT lead position:

Required Minimum Training and Education: Minium of 2 years of specialized ophthalmic experience preferred. 

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  JCAHPO certification as a COA or COT required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.  Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.  Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.   Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
