Job Description Summary
7 West Surgical Oncology is a high-acuity, 24-bed adult inpatient unit specializing in gynecologic and head & neck oncology, as well as benign GYN and ENT patients. We also care for a mix of medical–surgical patients, including respiratory, endocrine, GI, trauma, and behavioral health needs. Our team manages chemotherapy, radiation, TPN, tube feedings, and cares for complex head & neck surgical patients with trachs, laryngectomies, and advanced wound needs. We also support patients throughout the palliative and hospice journey. Staff on 7 West develop strong skills with heparin and insulin drips, PCA/epidural pain management, and various surgical drains. New team members receive specialized training with opportunities to pursue oncology, head & neck, med-surg, and palliative care certifications. 7 West offers a supportive, team-focused environment where RNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries can grow their skills and make a meaningful impact to their team and patients.Entity

Hours Per Week: 36
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 3-12 hour shifts. Shifts vary based on the needs of the department.
Job Summary/Purpose: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
2. Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
3. Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
4. Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
5. Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, as well as to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
6. Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
7. Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
8. Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
