Job Summary: The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at MUSC is seeking an Assistant Professor & Clinical Researcher to fill our vacant position with the Charleston Alcoholic Research Center (ARC). The successful applicant for this position will have either an MD or a PhD degree and will be expected to have an established and independent research program that will interface with the multidisciplinary NIAAA P50 Charleston Alcohol Research Center at MUSC. Expertise in clinical laboratory procedures and clinical trials that incorporate evaluation of pharmacological treatments, neuroimaging analyses, cognitive/behavioral assessments, and measures of addiction-related behaviors (e.g., craving, impulsivity, compulsivity) are most desirable.
General knowledge of biological and psychological processes in addiction, pharmacogenetics, and co-morbidities with other substances as well as stress-related and affective disorders is also desirable. It is anticipated that the position will eventually be largely grant funded though it will likely be necessary to provide some level of start-up funding from investment and/or philanthropic sources for a two to three year period as the individual establishes his/her clinical alcohol research program at MUSC. The individual’s rank and salary will depend upon the individual’s experience and potential.
