Job Description
Job Summary: The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), located in Charleston, SC, and the Community and Public Safety Psychiatry Division (CPSPD) are seeking a full-time academic Forensic Psychologist to participate in clinical, research/scholarly, and educational activities. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in South Carolina and have completed a postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology.
Broad based forensic skills to include knowledge of the law in relation to clinical practice are central to this position. The position includes conducting a range of forensic mental health assessments, to include competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, fitness for duty, preemployment psychological, violence risk, sexual behavior, child custody, parental fitness, and other youth and family services. The provision of forensic treatment may be a part of this role depending on division programing requirements. This position will include a combination of clinical, research/scholarly activities, and educational activities, to include providing clinical supervision and didactic seminars for forensic psychology and psychiatry postdoctoral fellows. The successful candidate will hold an academic rank commensurate with experience.
The successful applicant will be experienced in and passionate about Forensic Psychology. This individual will work closely with and support other providers, including other forensic psychologists and psychiatrists, professional counselors, clinical social workers, administrative staff, and trainees (e.g., medical students, psychiatry residents, fellows). This individual will conduct forensic evaluations, with the potential for the provision of treatment, and will be comfortable clinically supervising trainees.
