Job Summary: The Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina invites Master-level biostatisticians and applied statisticians with a background in computer science to apply for a position within our group. The DCU specializes in the design, implementation, management, analysis and reporting of multicenter clinical trials, most of which are NIH-funded. This position is for applicants with a Masters degree in statistics, biostatics, computer science, or related field.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.

Job Duties: 

• 30% - Participate in study database development and validation. This will include working with the data manager and protocol lead statistician to set up and validate the clinical trial management system for funded projects including subject randomization and trial operation management. - (Essential)
• 20% - Participate in programming of the randomization algorithm. This will include working with the protocol lead statistician and computer programmers on the randomization algorithm and implementation plan. This will include development of computer simulation programs to examine the design operating characteristics of the proposed designs. - (Essential)
• 20% - Independently execute the analysis and implementation of various modules housed within WebDCU™. Coordinates with team leaders on system development, documentation and testing. Completes milestones within required time frames. - (Essential)
• 15% - Participate in conducting and documenting computerized system validation activities according to standard operating procedures. Determines end user needs by participating as an active member at internal and external study team meetings. Performs demonstrations of newly developed tools and functions to internal and external users. - (Essential)
• 15% - Helps with the design and development of database architectures. Creates stored procedures, triggers, views, etc. to perform project tasks. Reviews and validates work that has been completed by other team members. Test, validate and debug new installations. - (Essential)

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills:  Advanced level of experience in programming languages such as SQL, SAS macro language, R, C++, python, java, etc. Preferred experience in .NET.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A master's degree in statistics, biostatics or related field.
