The Director of Planning and Research will support the missions of the AI Hub, Office of Research and Development (ORD, and the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) at the MUSC. This role involves leading AI-driven public health research, developing grant proposals, supporting strategic initiatives, and integrating AI into education. Key duties will include research development, data analysis, teaching, mentoring students, and providing administrative and committee support.
Job Duties:
1. 30%Work with the AI Hub leadership. Contribute to AI Hub consultations and projects, including grant development, educational efforts, and administrative tasks as needed.
2. 20%Contribute to the research development MUSC-wide of National Science Foundation (NSF) proposals and other funding sources in an effort to diversify MUSC funding sources, especially in projects related to AI.
3. 20%Participate in research projects. Conduct literature reviews to gather information pertaining to research projects, grant proposals, and manuscripts. Collect (primary and secondary) data, analyze data, and visualize data. Participate in the preparation and writing of grant proposals and reports. Present research at scientific meetings. Participate in research meetings and formal seminars to present, explain, and discuss research conducted. Collaborate with other researchers. Participate in the preparation of manuscripts. Author and co-author scientific research publications.
4. 15% Work with the Associate Chair for AI and Leadership to contribute to the Department and Master of Public of Public Health (MPH) Program strategic planning and initiatives. Contribute to the advancement of Public Health and Artificial Intelligence in the DPHS.
5. 10% Teach in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program. Course and syllabus development duties include course description, course outcomes, textbook selection, module development, weekly class activities, discussion and assignment development, class meeting days and times, grading construct, grading assignments and assessments, and post grades by the established deadline. Meet with graduate students to discuss course assignments, answer questions, and provide counsel.
6. 5% Other responsibilities include service on various committees, administrative tasks as needed.
