Job Description
25% Performs various grant and contract administration duties across different ORSP Units (Corporate, Non-Corporate and Data/Reporting and Sub-awards), such as but not limited to the following: completing ORSP’s award-activation process, reviews ORSP monthly awards reports for accuracy, assists with closeout reporting for foundation awards, supports the outgoing sub-awards process, reviews and assigns checks and ACH wire transfers for incoming award payments, distributes ROI (record of invention) notices, processes no-cost extension requests, updates corporate awards in Cayuse by removing IRB restrictions and insuring all AAHRPP items are addressed/documented to ensure compliance.
20% Scaled to the level of this GA I classification, coordinates and/or performs grant and contract administration duties, including screening of award notices and activating grant and contract awards, supplements, non-competing continuations, budget revisions, advises faculty researcher and/or departmental research administration staff. Updates central grants database accordingly once all such research administration actions are complete. Prepares and distributes the required award information to departments and the Office of Grants and Contracts Accounting.
20% Scaled to the level of this GA I classification, reviews and assesses grant/contract proposals for fiscal/budgetary issues to ensure allocations are allowable (e.g., cost sharing, applicable F&A costs, fringe benefits, etc.), addresses fatal errors prior to submission, and submits grant applications to comply with all administrative requirements. Serves as a liaison and resource to assigned areas within MUSC and to the awarding sponsors.
20% Serves as one of ORSP’s designated liaisons for electronic-research-systems including, but not limited to Cayuse424 and SP, eRA Commons, Research.gov and other federal and foundation research systems. Maintains Cayuse user, department and sponsor profiles, assigning/updating user accounts/roles in funding agency systems, maintaining institutional profiles and passwords, and coordinating help desk requests.
15% Acts as an internal ORSP IT/IS resource to assist with computer hardware procurement, inventory management, surplus of replaced or unused hardware, and to coordinate new hardware setup. Functions as webmaster for ORSP website. Keeps site updated and collaboratively designs additional pages and content as needed. Maintains and updates ORSP listserv membership as needed. Under the direction of the ORSP managers and staff, plans and participates in ORSP-provided training. Assists with development of training/learning materials, schedules, and promotes periodic ORSP and other MUSC research-administration-related trainings. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and three years business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of state and federal development and assistance programs.
Knowledge of the principles and procedures involved in obtaining grant funds from various federal, state and local sources.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
Knowledge of government accounting and budgeting practices.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with grant recipients and with federal, state and local agencies.
Ability to identify potential sources of funds.
