Job Description Summary
This position will assist College leadership with the development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics to increase faculty, student, postdoctoral trainee, alumni and donor engagement. The individual will serve as primary writer and editor for all College social media accounts, the College website and newsletters targeted for both internal and external audiences. They will develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies to promote the College's academic programs and services and assist the College with special projects and events. The individual will also develop story concepts and write compelling news releases, public service announcements and media advisories for local, regional, and student media by building and enhancing the College's digital presence. They will be expected to respond promptly and effectively to media inquiries, requests for interviews, quotes and photos. They will develop the knowledge and familiarity needed to represent all College academic programs and Initiatives.Job Description
25% Communication – Working with college leadership, develops and implements communication strategies and tactics to increase faculty, student, postdoctoral trainee, alumni and donor engagement. Writes and edits copy for College publications including brochures, flyers, posters and other marketing and communications material. Generates content for the College's website, with priority on academic programs, news and events (this includes writing, editing, repurposing content, incorporating images, graphics, videos, and other multimedia elements as needed). Designs and writes the weekly CGS newsletter (internal audience) and the quarterly CGS Alumni newsletter (external audience).
25% Social/New Media - Creates and implements a fluid social-media strategy to increase engagement with internal and external constituencies and promote all College programs. Serves as primary writer and editor for all College social media accounts and the College website.
Ensures that the College remains on the forefront of technologies utilized by prospective and current students, alumni and other stakeholders.
25% Marketing and Client Services - Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies to promote the College's academic programs and services. Assists the College with special projects and the planning and execution of special events. Serves as project lead for select communications/marketing projects, and works to expand the reputation and reach of College programs. Serves as the primary coordinator for Alumni and Philanthropic engagement. Represents the College on relevant University taskforces and serves as the College liaison to the University branding, marketing and communications group. Manages multiple projects, from concept through completion, with a high degree of quality, creativity and efficiency.
25% Media Relations - Develops story concepts and writes compelling news releases, public service announcements and media advisories for local, regional, and student media by building and enhancing the College's digital presence. Apply marketing initiative to generate interest in the College's programs. Responds promptly and effectively to media inquiries, requests for interviews, comments/quotes, photos, and research. Develops relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff to gain the knowledge necessary to respond regarding all academic programs.
Preferred experience & Additional Skills:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material. Experience with graphic design and website management desirable. Experience with higher education desirable.

Knowledge of CGS academic programs, public relations concepts, practices, and principles. Ability to work independently & coordinate a variety of duties simultaneously. Ability to create clear and informative presentations.
Knowledge of current social media, marketing, communications, and public relation trends. Knowledge of MS Office Suite, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Sitecore desirable. Strong project management/organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to write for varied audiences and to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying policies/procedures.
Ability to work with a diverse team of employees and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the news media and the general public. Ability to work under pressure, manage tight and shifting deadlines, and handle multiple priorities.
Education:
A bachelor's degree and two years relevant program experience.
