The James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina is seeking applications for a full-time, faculty position in the Department of Stomatology, Division of Periodontics. We seek a leader with the credentials and vision for (a) expanding clinical services, (b) elevating our portfolio of educational programs, and (c) synergizing a research agenda with an emphasis on clinical and translational studies.  The primary responsibilities include recruitment and retention of high caliber faculty, successful mentorship of junior faculty and residents in all aspects of academic life, and the administrative duties of running one the College’s largest administrative units.  The Division Director will work with the Chair on fiscal management, faculty and staff performance and development, and program expansion to off campus sites.  As a respected member of the College’s faculty, the position will also include opportunities in clinical and didactic teaching, mentorship of resident research projects, and service to the College, University, and profession. Participation in the College’s Dental Faculty Practice for private patient care is highly encouraged

Qualified candidates must have a DMD or DDS degree or equivalent and have completed a graduate program in periodontics.  They should have board certification, or be eligible for certification, by the American Academy of Periodontics. Successful applicants should have a South Carolina dental license or meet the requirements for obtaining a teaching license.  A PhD in a research discipline is encouraged but not required.  In lieu of a PhD degree, evidence of research productivity should include scholarship and grantsmanship at the level of an independent investigator is expected.
