Job Summary: The Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a tenure-track professor in the research area of neurodevelopment and substance use disorders. The successful candidate will be a national leader in the field, demonstrate dynamic leadership abilities, and have experience working in multidisciplinary teams. Major topics of interest in neurodevelopmental disorder research include: genomics and molecular mechanisms, neuroimmune and glial biology, in vivo brain imaging, and neural circuit formation, function, and plasticity. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with appropriate research expertise and are expected to possess an outstanding record of high-impact publications and a strong track-record of extramural research funding.
The successful applicant will be appointed to an Endowed Chair and receive a competitive recruitment package in a basic science department possessing ~$18 million in grant awards in 2020 and a strong commitment to faculty mentoring and collegiality. Successful candidates with interest and qualifications might also be offered opportunities for leadership roles within the department. The research-oriented department manages a successful PhD graduate program, two NIH-funded T32 training grants, two NIH P50 Center grants, and a NIH-funded faculty mentoring grant.
