Job Description
The Medical University of South Carolina, James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Orthodontic Section of the Department of Advanced Specialty Sciences.
The primary area of responsibility of the faculty position includes active participation in teaching, research, and patient care in the graduate orthodontic residency program. The position includes teaching also in the predoctoral orthodontic curriculum. Opportunities are available for intramural faculty practice.
Qualifications include a D.M.D., D.D.S. degree or equivalent and graduate specialty training in Orthodontics. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in didactic and clinical teaching, scholarship, and research. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for Board certification in Orthodontics as set forth by the American Board of Orthodontics. Preference will be given to applicants who are already board certified by the American Board. An attractive candidate would demonstrate potential for future administrative and leadership responsibilities in academic dentistry. A candidate that presents with experience and training commiserate with Associate or Full Professor ranks could be considered for a leadership position at the time of hire. Academic rank and salary will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and commensurate with level of experience.
The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to relate to office staff, faculty, and senior leadership. They must display initiative, a positive humanistic attitude, the ability to adapt to change, and embrace evidence-based care, modern technology, and innovation in learning.
