The Department of Surgery, Center for Cellular Therapy, is actively recruiting for a Research Specialist I. This position supports a range of laboratory functions within a research setting. The Research Specialist I will perform routine laboratory tests, quality control procedures, instrument maintenance, and documentation. Additional responsibilities include communicating critical or questionable results to appropriate staff and accurately entering data into the laboratory information system.Entity

Job Description
Pay Range:
$32,686.00 - $46,578.00 - $60,471.00 (min - mid - max)
Job Duties:
30% - Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments; carry out general administrative lab tasks; prepare labware and materials for experiments and procedures.
30% - Carry out quality control and safety assessments including air particle and surface monitoring, endotoxin testing, and mycoplasma testing; assist in general laboratory support functions.
25% - Conduct molecular biology techniques such as DNA isolation, PCR, and real-time PCR; perform cell separation from whole blood using density gradient methods; support assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, and co-culture preparation.
10% - cleanroom-based cell culture work, including processes related to CAR-T cells and Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)
5% - Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and two years work experience in a clinical or research setting; a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life or health care science may be substituted for the two years of required experience.

(Frequent) Ability to maneuver heavy equipment on bench tops, 50 lbs. or greater, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors, normally. (Continuous) Ability to hear and recognize various alarms emitting from work area systems. (Continuous) Ability to hear and/or understand conversations. (Continuous) Ability to work in a darkroom for processing film, etc. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and annually. (Continuous) Additional New Requirements: Ability to work rotating shifts as required. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
