The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical and communication skills who has an interest in studying therapeutic resistance in cancer. The goal of our research program is to understand the complex signaling networks that control hypoxia-mediated therapeutic resistance in solid tumors and translate these basic concepts to clinical applications that will directly impact patient care. We study tumor hypoxia with human cancer cells, using diverse methodology, including protein biochemistry, live cell imaging, HTS approaches, and in vivo models. The position requires the supervision of key laboratory procedures and conducting independent research in conjunction with the Principal Investigator, and to train undergraduate, graduate, medical students, postdocs, and visiting scholars.Entity

Applications are invited for a full-time Staff Scientist position available in the Warfel lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Medical University of South Carolina and Hollings Cancer Center.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical and communication skills who has an interest in studying therapeutic resistance in cancer. The goal of our research program is to understand the complex signaling networks that control hypoxia-mediated therapeutic resistance in solid tumors and translate these basic concepts to clinical applications that will directly impact patient care. We study tumor hypoxia with human cancer cells, using diverse methodology, including protein biochemistry, live cell imaging, HTS approaches, and in vivo models. The position requires the supervision of key laboratory procedures and conducting independent research in conjunction with the Principal Investigator, and to train undergraduate, graduate, medical students, postdocs, and visiting scholars.
A PhD with minimum four years postdoctoral experience is desired.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities desired: Experience with biochemistry and molecular biology techniques and knowledge of reporter assay design and development. Previous experience culturing human cells in vitro and working with animal models of cancer. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team; specifically, the candidate must be able to design and execute properly controlled biological experiments independently.
