Job Description Summary

The Zone Maintenance Supervisor supports the Facility Manager by overseeing daily maintenance operations and supervising the Zone Maintenance Shop for MUHA facilities, primarily serving Ambulatory Surgical Centers in the Charleston area. This role ensures routine and non-routine maintenance activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and codes. The position requires strong knowledge of healthcare facilities, building systems, and regulatory standards, along with the ability to manage outages, coordinate repairs, utilize CMMS and building automation systems, and procure services. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of facility operations and compliance.

Job Description

Overview: The Zone Maintenance Supervisor supports the Facility Manager in overseeing and managing facilities activities for MUHA. The role involves supervising the MUHA Zone Maintenance Shop and ensuring both routine and non-routine tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with applicable standards and codes. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of healthcare facilities, building systems, and relevant operational policies, codes, and regulations.  This position will be primarily assigned to the Ambulatory Surgical Centers in the Charleston area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance activities within the assigned facilities.

  • Manage utility outages and coordinate repair and maintenance work for facilities under your supervision.

  • Utilize building automation systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) effectively.

  • Procure necessary goods and services to maintain the facilities.

  • Ensure all facility systems are operated and maintained in compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, DHEC, NFPA, ASHRAE and other relevant AHJ’s.

  • May be required to serve as Essential Personnel during revised operational scenarios.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare facilities and building systems.

  • Proficiency in building automation systems and CMMS’s.

  • Strong understanding of applicable healthcare operational policies, procedures, codes, and regulations.

  • Ability to manage utility outages and coordinate/communicate maintenance work efficiently.

  • Experience in procuring goods and services for facility maintenance.

This position demands a proactive and knowledgeable individual dedicated to maintaining high standards of facility operations and compliance.

 An associate degree with four years of direct maintenance experience in healthcare facilities, or a high school diploma with six years of progressively responsible maintenance experience in healthcare settings. Strong organizational and communication skills, essential for effective interactions within and outside the facilities department. Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and perform effectively in the absence of the Facility Manager.
