Job Description

The Business Development Manager reports to the System Administrative Officer, MUSC Community Physicians. Under supervision, the Business Development Manager executes evaluation, implementation, onboarding, and tracking of potential business development activities for MUSC's regional health network. In this role, the Business Development Manager is responsible for cultivating relationships, increasing care coordination, and achieving new growth targets within MUSC Community Physicians.

The Business Development Manager will serve as part of the company's acquisition and growth team and will engage in cross-functional collaboration with all departments throughout MUSC Health, driving profitable revenue growth and success in the process. 

Minimum Training and Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college/university (MHA, MHSA, MBA, MPH, or other relevant degree and a minimum of three years relevant experience; A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in marketing, business, communications, health education or a clinical program in a professional health care discipline (Registered Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Respiratory, Occupational or Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, etc.) with a minimum of four years of direct sales and product development experience preferred. Must be self-motivated with excellent relationship building, project management, organization, and communication skills. Experience preparing and delivering presentations required. 

Duties Summarized from Application: 

  • Executes development, implementation, sales, tracking and evaluation of potential business development activities for MUSC's regional health network. 
  • Responsible for cultivating relationships, increasing care coordination, and achieving new growth targets across MUSC Community Physicians.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with all departments throughout MUSC Health, driving profitable revenue growth and success in the process.
  •   Work closely with finance team to develop proformas to support new initiatives and drive them through the internal approval process.
  • Recommend revenue generation or expense mitigation strategies and operational levels to achieve long term financial sustainability of new business development opportunities
  • Responsible for tracking and managing monthly invoicing process for complex professional service agreements.
  • Oversee MCP’s income guarantee and salary subsidy agreements through the execution of contracts, credentialing of providers, and processing of monthly statements for each physician.
  • Develop and fine-tune SOPs, templates, dashboards, and other collaborative tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy when executing projects.
  • Manage business office needs including the monitoring of the business development cost center/budget, overseeing the submission of department-related invoices, and execution of department contracts.
  • Lead development of MCP Annual Report by aggregating quarterly report-outs from each division and working closely with marketing / communications to ensure timely delivery post fiscal year close

Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent 

Work Experience: 3+ years progressive work experience
