Position Summary
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the nursing and clinical operations across the Pee Dee Division. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. The CNO provides strategic direction for nursing services, aligns clinical operations with organizational goals, and champions professional development for nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement nursing strategies aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to establish short- and long-term clinical objectives.
• Drive initiatives to enhance patient care quality, safety, and satisfaction.
Clinical Operations Management
• Oversee the delivery of nursing care across the Pee Dee Division and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
• Establish policies and procedures to optimize clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
• Monitor and manage key performance indicators related to nursing operations, including quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and staffing efficiency.
Staff Leadership and Development
• Lead, mentor, and support nursing leaders and staff, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Oversee the recruitment, retention, and professional development of nursing personnel.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the nursing workforce.
Financial Oversight
• Develop and manage the nursing department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality patient care.
• Participate in strategic financial planning to support organizational growth and sustainability.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as a liaison between nursing staff, medical staff, and executive leadership.
• Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, professional organizations, and community partners.
• Represent the organization at industry conferences and events to maintain a competitive edge in nursing practices.

Additional Job Description

Education and Certifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related field (required).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
  • Certification in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) or similar (preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing or clinical operations.
  • Demonstrated success in driving clinical excellence and managing large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, strategic planning, and change management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in healthcare analytics and technology.
  • Deep understanding of clinical best practices, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
