Job Summary/Purpose:
The Director of Women’s Services is a registered nurse who has accountability and responsibility for the operation of all functional areas of the Women’s Services Program at MUSC Health Midlands Division, to include Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum, and the Newborn Nursery. These responsibilities include providing excellence and quality in patient care delivery, fiscal responsibility, management and leadership of staff, collaboration with medical staff, as well as maintaining working relationships with other hospital leadership, and positive interaction with families, visitors, and vendors. The Director is accountable for continuous personal growth and development as well as encouraging and providing opportunities for staff to gain expertise.
Manages two or more professional and support staff including subordinate managers. Responsible for department budget discretion and greater financial authority than lower management levels. Directs the analysis, planning, implementation, and expenditures and budget tracking of major operational projects or initiatives. Provides recommendations to the leaders throughout the organization. Leads in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations. Collaborates with department/business unit leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. Establishes department policies and procedures. This role will serve as the primary liaison for the department. Manages and influences relationships with senior management team, administrators, functional area managers and staff to achieve best in practice performance and business results.
The Director must possess excellent interpersonal skills, problem identification and resolution abilities. The Director is responsible for meeting the standards set forth by DNV, DHEC, and all pertinent regulatory agencies, and the Standards of Nursing Care and Practice. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Minimum Training and Education: Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 9 years progressive work experience and 4 years management experience. Master's Degree preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification required.

The PTWP care is one of only a handful of women’s facilities in the country to offer couplet-care rooms, where newborns and mothers can recover together in an intensive-care setting.
