Job Description
The Certified Athletic Trainer II (ATC II) will be the Head athletic trainer for the College of Charleston and will report to the assigned Sports Medicine leader. The ATC II is to provide oversite and leadership to the MUSC Health Athletic Trainers assigned to the College of Charleston. The ATC II will provide primary team coverage (specific team TBD based on preference, experience, and need) as well as provide training room and cross coverage for additional teams as needed. The ATC II will provide collegiate-based point of service for sports related prevention, care, coverage and rehabilitation, referral and marketing for musculoskeletal injuries and sports related ailments within a defined environment for athletes under the general supervision of the physician, physical therapist, physician assistant and or nurse practitioner.
The ATC II will be responsible for administrative leadership to the athletic trainers at the College of Charleston including but not limited to scheduling, supply ordering, documentation, and managing day-to-day, season, and year-long operations.
Previous experience with collegiate and/or professional sports teams, as well as leadership experience preferred. Job includes in and out of state travel responsibilities for game coverage as well as pre- and post- game treatment.
Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA. (Masters degree in Athletic Training preferred). Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC). Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR). Maintain current BLS certification (BLS Instructor certification preferred). Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school age adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Weekday, weekend and evening hours to cover practices, games, tournaments, and special events.

Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school age adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Weekend and evening hours to cover games, practices, tournaments, special events and sports performance training sessions. Previous experience with high school, collegiate and/or professional sport teams preferred.
