Job Description

The HMHSC Intern will report to HMHSC’s Operations Manager and Director, and will have the unique opportunity to be highly-involved in the oversight of HMHSC’s programs and expansion. This role will provide experience in operations, strategic planning, project and financial management and team-building. As HMHSC is a statewide initiative, this role will work with individuals from MUSC, Clemson, DHEC and other partners. The role will be largely remote, with in-office team days occurring 2-4x/month. In addition, there will be four Saturday Health Fair Events this role will attend (all travel expenses will be fully reimbursed by HMHSC), two in Blackville, SC and two in Kingstree, SC. These events run from 10am-1pm, with time needed on either end for set-up and break-down. At these events, there are health screenings (blood pressure and glucose) as well as connectivity to various community resources and partners. The intern will be working hand-in-hand with HMHSC’s Operations Manager to prepare for these events (project management), and on the day-off will work with all members of the HMHSC team to make the event a success. If desired, there will be other occasional opportunities within the state.

The right individual for this role will be a highly motivated self-starter, and someone with a passion for community health and health equity.

Projects may include

  • Project management over HMHSC’s state-wide health fair events, with attendance at HMHSC’s four core health events.

  • Tracking and analysis of HMHSC programs’ dashboard, which includes key performance indicators/program metrics that result in growth and operational efficiency.

  • Oversight and analysis of HMHSC’s operational activities, with emphasis on programs’ quarterly financial updates.

  • Spearhead working with all of HMHSC’s programs for MUSC’s Innovation Week.

  • Assist with development and ongoing support of HMHSC marketing and branding, to include the Annual Report and Website.

  • Work with HMHSC’s Operations Manager and Director to Investigate, explore and analyze new partnership and expansion opportunities for HMHSC.
