Job Description Summary

Job Description

Position Purpose

The primary responsibility of the staff pharmacist is to ensure the accurate, age appropriate and timely preparation of all medication orders. The pharmacist is responsible for the supervision of pharmacy technicians, interns and students. The pharmacist facilitates the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and performs other duties as assigned. The pharmacist will perform specific clinical functions in accordance with written policies and procedures. The pharmacist will provide drug information/education to patients, medical and hospital staff, as required. This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy, Advanced Degree in Pharmacy (PharmD or MS) preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum one year experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred

  • Licenses/Certificates: Current Licensure as Registered Pharmacist in South Carolina or eligible for licensure

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works in a clean, ventilated, well lighted, heated/air conditioned building.

  • May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Able to handle emergency or crisis situations. May be occasionally subject to irregular hours. May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary.
