The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Responsible for patient assessment, education pre and post procedure, and safe care and monitoring of patient during the procedure. Responsible for safe administration of radiation, contrast dosing and image processing. The responsibilities will include, but not limited to, maintaining and operating the specialized vascular C-arm equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images, applying and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of radiation protection and safety practices, maintaining regulatory required documentation during/after the procedure, and helping to prepare and position the patient for procedures.Entity

Job Description/Summary:
The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Responsible for patient assessment, education pre and post procedure, and safe care and monitoring of patient during the procedure. Responsible for safe administration of radiation, contrast dosing and image processing. The responsibilities will include, but not limited to, maintaining and operating the specialized vascular C-arm equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images, applying and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of radiation protection and safety practices, maintaining regulatory required documentation during/after the procedure, and helping to prepare and position the patient for procedures.
Minimum Training and Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and minimum 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred and /or graduate of an advanced IR program.
Must be able to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with age specific criteria.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent).
Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training.
