Job Description

1.1 Weight 25%

  • Prepare and oversee the yearly budget and other required financial documents and reports for DLAR.
  • Monitor expenditures and analyze expenses monthly to determine trends for budgetary planning purposes.
  • Prepare cost analysis to determine pricing for cost recovery operation according to federal government NIH/CAS standards.
  • Manages all DLAR CORE budgets and ensures timely completion of CORE financial reviews. - (Essential)

  • Collaborate with Program Manager to coordinate all procurement activities, including the purchase of large equipment requiring installation in any of our facilities, general operating supplies, animals, and bio-hazardous materials.
  • Supervise all operations involving accounts receivable and payable for both MUSC and outside vendors. - (Essential)

1.3 Weight 15%

  • Maintain database for department personnel including faculty, to include salary, fringe benefit, and % effort on funded projects.
  • Grant administrator for faculty and effort reporting coordinator for faculty. - (Essential)

  • Supervise department HR and animal procurement personnel.
  • Oversee time and attendance reporting for all department personnel.
  • Understand the animal ordering system and be knowledgeable about program deficiencies and limitations. - (Essential)

  • Collaborate with other MUSC research/administrative units in developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems (KSI, Infinity) related to services invoicing and billing. - (Essential)

  • Assist MUSC faculty with the formation and preparation of protocols/grants involving animal usage. - (Essential)

  • Serve as the department’s credit card coordinator with audit requirements for all department users. Serve as the department’s compliance coordinator. - (Essential)

MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience in administrative services, public administration, or business management.

Must be able to work in dusty environments. May have to work in wet areas. Must be able to properly wear DLAR issued PPE. Must be able to work in reverse light cycle rooms. May have to work in confined spaces. Must be able to understand safety requirements for autoclave rack washer and tunnel washer.
