This full-time, thirteen-month clinical position is designed for board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP-BC) within the MUSC College of Nursing Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Technology Enhanced Residency (PARTNER). PARTNER is designed for newly graduated PMHNPs to advance beyond their graduate academic training and develop expertise in integrated primary care behavioral health for children, adolescents, and adults, focusing on rural and underserved communities in South Carolina. Services are provided in-person and through telehealth, utilizing synchronous video platforms and an e-consult system.Entity

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications: Earned master’s or doctoral degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Candidates should be eligible for APRN licensure with prescriptive authority and DHEC licensure by the State of South Carolina, DEA licensure, and hold national certification as a PMHNP. In addition, candidates will have effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and abilities. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or the Military Training Network. The role includes in-person commitments in the Charleston area at least three days per week, which requires proximity to the area.
All certifications and licensures must be current and complete before the start date.
Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Patient Population Focus: Outpatient
Patient Population Age Range: 5 years to death
Location: The role includes in-person commitments in the Charleston area, requiring at least three days of on-site presence per week, and proximity to the area is necessary.
Formal Accountability: Reports to the CON Associate Dean for Practice. The PMHNP will be assigned a primary collaborating physician employed by MUSC.
Responsibilities:
Clinical (80% effort)
Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
a. Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
b. Evaluate and treat based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guidelines
c. Documents and bills for direct care provided
d. Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
e. Works to understand the needs of patients and their families and provides recommendations to the primary care provider to assist with care planning and goal-setting
f. Assumes responsibility for managing care for assigned patient caseload, establishing protocols with collaborating physician, and monitoring treatment plans and clinical practice.
g. Engages in collaborative care, providing behavioral health support to the patient and primary care provider
h. Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
i. Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
j. Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in continuing education
k. Adhere to MUSC College of Nursing and MUSC Health policies
l. Supports the MUSC’s values for an environment and culture of respect, inclusivity, equity, and belonging
Educational and Administrative (20% effort)
a. Participate in didactic sessions and training to support advanced knowledge of assessment, differentials, and diagnosis of complex behavioral health conditions; psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and professional practice (including billing and documentation) – including, but not limited to case presentations, consultation sessions, grand-rounds
b. Complete charting documentation and other administrative tasks as identified
c. Adhere to MUSC College of Nursing and MUSC Health policies
d. Supports the MUSC’s values for an environment and culture of respect, inclusivity, equity, and belonging
