Job Description

Job Information/Description: The MUSC Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and NCI-designated MUSC Hollings Cancer Center are recruiting a full-time early career (Assistant Professor or early Associate Professor) tenure track faculty of exceptional potential and emerging scholarship to enhance strategic growth in its cancer survivorship clinical and research portfolio. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is a research-intensive department, which has been consistently ranked within the Top 5-10 NIH research-funded departments of psychiatry in the United States. The MUSC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has a well-established and long history of research and collaborative-care services with the MUSC Hollings Cancer. Faculty within the MUSC Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences also enjoy additional extensive research funding from the Veterans Administration via its strong affiliation with the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital Care System. The NIC-designated MUSC Hollings Cancer, founded in 1993, markedly expanded its focus on survivorship in 2022 with the launching of Survivorship and Cancer Outcomes Research (SCOR) Initiative.  SCOR provides a transdisciplinary hub for collaborative research between clinicians and researchers in survivorship, cancer care delivery and cancer outcomes. SCOR and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ faculty leadership maintain an environment that values diversity and nurtures collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Research is encouraged to focus on the cancer center’s catchment area, which features a high proportion of patients who are racially and ethnically diverse, rural, and medically underserved.
