Job Description

The Medical University of South Carolina, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery seeks candidates for a Clinical Instructor appointment to provide patient care in cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.  There has been explosive growth in the advanced heart failure program, including acute MCS devices and cardiogenic shock, durable LVAD therapy including minimally invasive approaches, and heart transplantation including DCD.  Primary clinical duties will entail heart transplants including complex reoperative cases and DCD transplants, and implantation of acute and durable mechanical circulatory support devices.  Participation in the pre-operative evaluation process including weekly transplant selection committee meetings, quality meetings, operative and postoperative care will be provided.  It is also possible that the experience can be customized to the candidate’s preferences with additional experiences in other cardiac procedures and lung transplantation, for example.
