Job Description Summary

The HPEP Student Director will assist the Associate Director of Student Diversity and Community Outreach with the program planning, coordination, and implementation of the 2025 HPEP. The HPEP is a mentoring program for high school and undergraduate college students interested in the health professions. The purpose of this temporary, student hire position is to provide programmatic and logistical support for all of the HPEP activities and initiatives.

Job Duties 35%

Program Planning and Coordination

  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Associate Director of Student Diversity to debrief, plan, and prepare for the upcoming HPEP session. 
    • Help prepare session documents, copies, presentations, folders, etc.
    • Communicate program, student, and/or mentor needs to the Associate Director of Student Diversity and Community Outreach as they arise
  • Assist with the overall coordination of the HPEP
    • Help coordinate the agendas for each session by aiding in the identification of appropriate guest speakers and session activities
    • Contact and follow-up with potential guest speakers and invited session participants
    • Help facilitate communications amongst those involved in the program by initiating contacts and following up, as needed

Program Implementation

  • Co-facilitate 5-7 Saturday sessions (9:00am- 1:30pm) over the course of the Spring Semester and actively participate in all of the scheduled HPEP activities and events.
    • Help facilitate the distribution of lunch
    • Take pictures throughout the course of the sessions
    • Support guest speakers with lecture set-up etc.
    • Help distribute and collect program evaluation surveys from students and mentors

Job Duties 20%

  • Assist in the overall direction, supervision, and organization of high school and undergraduate students.
    • Assists with the scheduling and facilitation of HPEP orientations, to include student and mentor orientations
    • Help track student attendance
    • Help promote an engaging and positive learning environment for high school and undergraduate students.
    • Arrive early to assist with check-in procedures and remain present until all student’s check-out of Saturday sessions.
  • Support student mentor component of the program.
    • Help monitor student-mentor communications throughout the course of the program
    • Help coordinate mentor gifting and other opportunities for mentor and student engagement
    • Serve as a back-up mentor, as needed

Job Duties 10%

  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Student Diversity and Community Outreach, complete other duties and tasks as needed to execute the HPEP.

Compensation: $15/hour
