The Ferreira Lab at the Medical University of South Carolina and the Hollings Cancer Center aims to design and develop the next generation of engineered immune cell therapies for autoimmune disease, cancer, and aging (www.ferreiralab.com). Mid Point: $41,415.00
Maximum: $53,769.00
Job Duties:
Basic immunology experimentation employing various techniques, including molecular biology, cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and flowcytometry. 35%
Handling/processing of samples from human subjects involving PBMC isolation, magnetic cell enrichment, fluorescence-assisted cell sorting(FACS), and ex vivo culture. 25%
Perform routine maintenance of and experimentation in mice. These responsibilities include breeding and weaning, genotyping, and treatment with various agents. 20%
Management of the lab activities. This includes routine preparation of common lab reagents, as well as ordering, shipments, and inventory of laboratory supplies. 15%
Additional duties assigned by the Principal Investigator. This will include helping prepare lab protocols, figures, and others. 5%
MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:
A high school diploma and two years work experience in a clinical or research setting; a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life or health care science may be substituted for the two years of required experience.
Additional Knowledge, Skill and Ability Preferred: A bachelor's degree in biology or other life or health care science with biology research experience. Training on all aforementioned techniques is available in the lab. Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, mouse handling, flow cytometry.
