Job Description Summary

The College of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position. A demonstrated record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications is essential; ability to successfully compete for grant funding is a must. Preference will be given to candidates with an established record of applied statistics, and ability to succeed in team science. The highest priority will be given to candidates who hold a faculty appointment at an academic institution at the rank of at least Associate Professor, have expertise in clinical trial design and analysis, and have demonstrated leadership in the coordination of multi-site clinical research projects. Faculty appointment to rank will be made at the Associate Professor or Professor level based on the candidate’s experience and career goals. Access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided; secondary appointments in departments within MUSC, such as Public Health Sciences and Graduate Studies, may be considered. A start-up package may be negotiable.

Job Description

Preferred qualifications: 
-    PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
-    A history of grantsmanship and productivity in research (e.g., experience with grant writing, submission processes)
-    Record of securing grant funding.
-    The areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, design and analysis of randomized clinical trials including novel designs such as implementation trials, pragmatic designs, and adaptive trials, longitudinal data analysis (e.g., mixed linear models, trajectory analysis, survival analysis), latent variable modeling (e.g., factor analysis, structural equation modeling, cluster analysis, latent class/profile analysis), and causal inference.
-    Programming skills in R, SAS, and SPSS. 
-    Experience collaborating with interprofessional teams.
-    Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Essential Duties
-    Collaborates with PIs in the development of grant proposals.
-    Serves as the statistical investigator on funded and unfunded research projects.
-    Provides statistical consultation to faculty and doctoral students for their research.
-    Teaches statistics and/or research methods courses.
-    Serves on PhD dissertation committees.
-    Mentors faculty and students
-    Serves the College and the University by participating in committees and task forces.
