Job Description
The Quality and Safety Manager II for the Hemapheresis Department reports to the System Director of Quality and Safety for the Cancer ICCE. The Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for providing programmatic quality oversight of all activities in Hemapheresis that support daily clinical care as well as accreditation, regulatory, and audit requirements to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies (FDA, FACT, NMDP, AABB, etc).
The position is responsible for all quality aspects in collection of cellular products to support the blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy program including clinical trials and external product manufacturer guidelines. This position will work closely with the Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy (BMTCT) Quality and Accreditation Manager to assure compliance with Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) standards and other quality measures identified by program leadership are met.
Responsibilities also include analysis of quality and performance improvement activities including coordination and collection of data, analysis, and trending of required regulatory indicators (internal and external), process measures and clinical outcomes measures. The manager is also responsible for providing or ensuring adequate staff education, training and competency, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all relevant standards, rules, and regulations and promoting regulatory readiness and ongoing accreditation compliance.
Additional Job Description
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience with strong knowledge in quality and performance improvement or a master’s degree in a health-related field and five (5) years of healthcare experience with strong knowledge in quality and performance improvement.
Experience with Apheresis and Transfusion Services, cell therapy/ stem cell transplantation, bone marrow transplant, hem/onc, laboratory medicine, and/or regulatory compliance/quality assurance preferred.
Registered Nurse, Clinical Laboratory Specialist, or Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred
Certification as Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Patient Safety preferred, Experience with LEAN/Six Sigma required and certification preferred. Experience with Just Culture required, certification preferred.
Computer/internet skills and familiarity with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) essential.

Ability to lift/lower objects 15 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (I). Ability to lift from 36” to overhead 15 lbs. (I). Ability to push/pull objects to 30 lbs. unassisted (F).Ability to maintain vision 20/40 corrected (C). Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand (C). Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (C). Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (C).
