Responsibilities include gathering information, developing cases for philanthropic support and writing/producing proposals in support of fundraising initiatives. The writer must have excellent written communication skills, be able to meet demanding deadlines and be able to articulate and present medical and research content that is relevant, engaging, and compelling to external audiences with the result of receiving donor funds.
Responsibilities
35% Case development – Researching, gathering information/data, and interviewing key stakeholders for the purpose of identifying philanthropic priorities across the Medical University of South Carolina. The position will develop overviews of each unit, interview internal stakeholders to identify fundraising priorities, write supporting cases for each, and compile in different formats for inclusion in various fundraising collateral (e.g., web content, brochures, and case statements). Must be able to ask leading questions that foster ideas and the gathering of pertinent information questions to develop high quality proposals.
35% Proposal writing – Writing both templated and customized proposals for philanthropic support. Must be able to translate complex research and medical terms into easy-to-understand dialogue.
25% Impact reporting – Writing content (i.e., newsletter/e-newsletter articles, emails, etc.) that demonstrate the impact of philanthropy on the university’s mission and lives of the people served by that mission.
5% Other duties as assigned.
