Job Description Summary

The Associate Director of MUSC Foundation Events – Health Programs, is a key member of the MUSC Foundation Events team, reporting to the Director of Events. This role leads the development, management, and execution of fundraising events that support MUSC Health’s philanthropic priorities, which includes MUSC Heart & Vascular Center, MUSC Storm Eye Institute and other groups.

The Associate Director ensures that all MUSC Health fundraising events align with MUSC priorities, maintain brand integrity, and maximize donor engagement and revenue. Responsibilities include event strategy, logistics management, sponsorship fulfillment, vendor relations, volunteer coordination, and direct supervision of an Events Coordinator to support execution and administrative functions. This role is in Charleston, South Carolina.

Job Description

(25%) Serve as the strategic thought partner for events, contributing to high-level decision-making, event strategy development, and alignment of events with MUSC philanthropic priorities.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including MUSC Health and Foundation Leadership, Directors of Development, and Volunteer Boards, to ensure fundraising events support overarching institutional and development goals.
  • Contribute to the implementation of fundraising best practices to enhance donor engagement and revenue generation.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Events and MUSC Events, LLC, analyze event performance metrics and donor engagement data to refine strategies and improve future fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure alignment between fundraising events and MUSC Health’s brand, mission, and long-term development objectives.

(25%) Contribute to the strategic planning, logistics, and execution of high-impact fundraising events for MUSC Health, ensuring seamless operations, brand consistency, and alignment with philanthropic priorities while maximizing donor engagement and revenue growth.

  • Plan and execute high-profile fundraising events, including galas, donor receptions, community engagement events, and signature campaigns.
  • Develop and implement event strategies that align with MUSC Health’s fundraising priorities and donor engagement goals.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and execution across all MUSC Health fundraising events.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance event revenue, donor cultivation, and sponsorship engagement.
  • Manage event timelines, budgets, vendor selection, contract negotiations, and on-site logistics to ensure smooth execution.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, external vendors, and event committees to produce high-quality events.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, risk management protocols, and industry best practices.

(20%) Drive sponsorship and revenue growth by securing event sponsorships, in-kind contributions, and implementing innovative fundraising strategies to maximize financial support for MUSC Health events.

  • Partner with development officers to secure event sponsorships and in-kind contributions.
  • Develop sponsorship fulfillment plans and ensure all sponsor benefits are executed effectively.
  • Identify and implement strategies to maximize revenue from ticket sales, auctions, peer-to-peer fundraising, and other revenue streams.

(15%) Foster collaboration across teams by streamlining event workflows, coordinating with marketing and communications, and engaging key stakeholders to ensure successful event execution and alignment with MUSC Health’s mission.

  • Partner with the Project Manager to ensure streamlined event workflows, timeline management, and adherence to best practices.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing and Communications teams to develop marketing strategies and event branding materials.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, and key stakeholders to ensure event alignment with MUSC Health’s mission.
  • Serve as a resource on best practices for fundraising events across the enterprise.

(15%) Enhance event efficiency and donor engagement through strategic use of event technology, seamless registration processes, and collaboration with donor relations, while ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting.

  • Work collaboratively with Events Project Manager and the Digital Marketing Team to organize and develop event registration webpages, ensuring seamless user experience and accurate data collection.
  • Collaborate with the Donor Relations Team to support post-event follow-up and donor stewardship efforts.
  • Provide training and support for the event fundraising platform, ensuring all event volunteers are equipped to utilize the system effectively.
  • Facilitate payment and billing processes for events, providing accurate financial information to the Business Manager of Alumni & Events LLC to ensure accounts receivable and payable are up to date.
