Job Description Summary

The Associate ICCE Chief for Women's Health at MUSC Health is a key leadership role overseeing the strategic planning and execution of Women’s Health services across the MUSC Health System. Beyond delivering exceptional patient care in obstetrics and gynecology in the community, this position entails significant administrative and operational responsibilities to ensure the efficient functioning and growth of our system-wide Women's Health services.

The incumbent is instrumental in aligning the delivery of comprehensive and patient-centered healthcare for women from adolescence through pregnancy and into later stages of life. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient and effective support for practice excellence, clinical research and educational initiatives related to Women's Health. The individual in this position will collaborate with healthcare professionals, administrators, and support staff to enhance the consistency and high-quality delivery of comprehensive women's health services across the MUSC landscape.

Key components:

  • Horizontal clinical alignment of Women's Health to optimize the patient experience, improve health outcomes, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery by creating a unified and collaborative approach to Women’s Health across the continuum of life.
  • Strategic planning and execution on the approved strategies designed to increase access to care for women across the state.
  • Unify quality standards and establish common performance metrics across different specialties within Women's Health to ensure consistent and high-quality care.
  • Establish integrated care pathways that outline the patient's journey across different clinical specialties ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated experience.
  • Develop a streamlined referral process between specialties, ensuring that patients can transition seamlessly between healthcare providers as needed.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and communication among healthcare professionals from various hospitals and ambulatory locations with disciplines including obstetricians, gynecologists, pediatricians, and internal medicine specialists, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Provide cross-training and educational opportunities for healthcare professionals to enhance their understanding of the unique healthcare needs of women, regardless of specialty.
  • Prioritize a patient-centered approach that considers the whole woman, her life stages, and her unique healthcare needs. This includes tailored services to address physical, emotional, and social aspects of health.
  • Maintain a community-based OB/GYN practice

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for Women's Health Services that align with the overall goals and mission of MUSC Health.
  • Provide leadership in the day-to-day administrative operations of Women's Health.
  • Collaborate with administrative support functions, including scheduling, billing, medical records, and other operational aspects to ensure a consistent world class experience for patients through all clinical providers across MUSC.
  • Manage and optimize human and financial resources within Women's Health.
  • Work closely with budgeting and finance teams to ensure effective fiscal management.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives within Women's Health Services.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among healthcare professionals, support staff, and other relevant departments.
  • Serve as a liaison between Women's Health Services and other healthcare entities within MUSC Health.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of clinical programs and services related to Women’s Health.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in patient care, research, and education.
  • Utilize data analytics to assess performance metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Generate reports and present findings to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Oversee educational and training programs within Women's Health Services for staff development.
  • Stay informed about advancements in Women’s Health to facilitate continuous learning.

 

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion

Housed within MUSC SJCH, the Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion (PTWP) seamlessly integrates children’s care and obstetrical services, thereby enhancing safety and improving outcomes in low and high-risk pregnancies. The Advanced Fetal Care Center ensures that families expecting babies with complex congenital birth defects or medical problems receive care from board-certified maternal-fetal medicine providers collaborating with a large multidisciplinary care team of pediatric specialists. The PTWP care is one of only a handful of women’s facilities in the country to offer couplet-care rooms, where newborns and mothers can recover together in an intensive-care setting.
