Job Description Summary

The Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) reports to the Social Work Manager for the Institute of Psychiatry. This position provides a wide variety of direct social worker services in an acute care psychiatric setting for a complex caseload of pediatric patients including psychosocial assessment, discharge planning, case management, group therapy and related documentation in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary treatment team. This position identifies risk factors that the patient may experience after discharge and applies discharge interventions to lower the patient risk of an undesirable event post discharge. The Social Worker bridges the discharge to outpatient provider with the patient to address issues and questions.


This is a 3 day a week (24 hours) part-time social work position on 2N, the Children and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit for children ages 6-17. Social worker must be licensed as a LMSW at the time of hire in the State of South Carolina.

Additional Job Description

Education:

Master's Degree in Social Work or Social Welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: 

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners required.  Certification in case management preferred.  Licensure required at the time of hire.

Additional requirements:

Requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Demonstrates ability to collaborate in a positive, professional manner with medical professionals. Requires ability to work in a thorough but efficient manner.
