The purpose of this position is to conduct research focused on the immune response and its effects on ocular disease, especially neovascular disease.
The successful applicant will use their existing knowledge and learn new scientific concepts and techniques to continue ongoing work in the laboratory
Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed upon job entry: A PhD in life sciences is required for application. Successful applicants will be proficient in animal work, with
experience in vision science-related models preferred but not required. Proficiency in basic wet lab techniques and data analyses are required. Experience in
immunological techniques (flow cytometry, adoptive transfer, primary culture) is preferred but not required. A publication record demonstrating expertise and prior
productivity is required.
Guidelines and supervision employee will receive in order to perform duties, including the employee’s independence and discretion: Fellow will be supervised daily
by PI, and experiments will be designed jointly with the PI. Once experimental design has been determined, fellow is expected to conduct experiments and data
analyses independently and return to PI with finalized experimental findings. The PI and fellow will meet weekly to discuss research progress, design upcoming
experiments, and discuss fellow’s career development goals.

Job Duties:
30%- Conduct live animal imaging including but not limited to optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography.
30%- Collect tissues to conduct analyses including but not limited to histology and subsequent imaging, flow cytometry, isolation of primary cells, RT-PCR and ELISA.
30%- Organize and analyze results of physiological, biochemical and molecular measurements with computer software (specialized imaging software, Excel, Prism, Flowjo, and others), and write up experimental findings.
10%- Contribute to lab organizational tasks, together with other lab members as a group effort. These include item inventory and organization, sample inventory and organization, placing orders, and assisting with IACUC record-keeping.
