Job Description Summary

The MUSC Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a strategic Creative Brand Copywriter to join our team. The ideal candidate is a skilled wordsmith who excels at combining words to shape meaning, connect with internal and external audiences, elevate brand perception, and drive action. Reporting to the Senior Director of Brand Strategy, this role will play a key part in shaping and maintaining the brand’s tone of voice, ensuring all content is consistent and aligned with strategic goals across channels.

Job Description

The role crafts compelling copy that connects with audiences at every stage of their journey, driving meaningful engagement. It will also support Creative Services by collaborating with designers and other teams to deliver high-quality content. Additionally, the position will help organize and develop materials that educate the enterprise on embracing and communicating the brand’s identity. A strong command of language, creativity, and a deep understanding of how to craft messages that connect with audiences, elevate brand perception, and drive engagement are essential. This is an in-person position.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative Copywriting and Brand Messaging (25%)

· Set and maintain the brand’s voice across all written content.

· Create compelling, persuasive copy for various platforms.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align messaging with marketing strategies.

· Continuously refine and evolve brand voice and messaging frameworks.

Collaboration and Content Integration (25%)

· Partner across teams to blend words and visuals into compelling content that brings the brand’s voice and vision to life.

· Contribute original ideas and strategic writing that help the brand stand out and resonate across touchpoints.

· Assist in maintaining high-quality standards.

Proofreading and Editing (20%)

· Review and edit content to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand and industry standards.

· Enhance readability and flow while providing constructive feedback to content creators and stakeholders.

· Uphold consistency in style, tone, and terminology across all brand materials.

Content Organization and Brand Education (25%)

· Develop and organize internal content that educates and inspires employees on brand messaging, values, and identity.

· Collaborate to create internal brand guides, toolkits, and training materials.

· Support initiatives to foster brand alignment and consistent communication across the organization.

· Other duties (5%)

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelors in English, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

· Experience: 5+ years of experience in copywriting, preferably within a creative agency or in-house brand team.

· Skills:

o Highly creative, with strong conceptual thinking and storytelling abilities.

o Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.

o Ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms.

o Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

o Strong portfolio showcasing a range of work, from brand campaigns to social media content.

o Strong communication and collaboration skills.

o Proficiency in AP Style and writing for diverse platforms and audiences.
