Job Description

Performs complex histological procedures used to prepare specimens of tissue for examination and analysis by a Pathologist. Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and both routine and multiple staining of samples. Performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety.

Additional Job Description

Education:  Bachelors Degree in science from an accredited college/univeristy.  Experience: At least 1 year of clinical laboaratory work experience required.  Certification: HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or equivalent.  NOTE:  This is a Career Ladder Position.  Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements.  External candidates are required to complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 90 days in position.
