Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and embed tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the pathologist
  • Perform microtomy, staining, and coverslipping with a strong focus on quality and consistency
  • Partner with pathologists to support diagnostic workflows and special requests
  • Ensure accurate and reliable results by strictly adhering to established quality control programs
  • Conduct routine instrument checks and preventive maintenance in accordance with departmental policies
  • Maintain detailed records, logs, and statistical data to meet regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Train and mentor new employees and students on laboratory procedures and best practices
  • Provide flexible support across shifts to ensure seamless lab operations

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Histotechnology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least two years
  • Meets testing personnel qualifications as defined by CLIA (Title 42, Sec. 493.1489)

Required Certifications

  • ASCP HT (or equivalent) certification required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
