Job Description
Under the direction of the Director, provides first line management responsibilities including clinical leadership and supervisory support to an assigned area. Works in collaboration with team members, physicians, anesthesia, Nurse Manager/ Director, the health care team and hospital leaders to ensure a quality practice setting that supports professional practice and quality patient care. Interacts directly with patients, their families and staff for problem identification and resolution
Responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regime prescribed by a physician. The transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of respiratory care. Proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing. Recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities. Implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician. The ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery to achieve desired patient outcomes. Performs all other duties required.
Schedule: Nights
Education: Graduate of an NRBC approved Respiratory Therapy program. Associate degree in Respiratory Care from a CoARC accredited program required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of acute respiratory therapy experience required.
Licensure/Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), South Carolina Respiratory Care License. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required. ACLS required (Adult), PALS and NRP required (Pediatrics). AARC membership required.
