Job Description Summary
Possessing an SPD-Relevant Certification (CRCST or CBSPD) with a minimum of 2 years of SPD experience, the Sterile Processing Technician Lead manages the reprocessing cycle for surgical instrumentation, including disassembly, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, labeling, and sterilization. Cares for and operates ultrasonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and other equipment. Completes quality monitoring and documentation. Performs quality assurance activities. Is responsible for supply inventory management and clinic instrument rounds. Is responsible for mentoring, training, coaching, and role modeling of new Sterile Processing Technicians. Serves as leader for the department to promote teamwork within the department and with other departments. Performs all duties with a commitment to excellence in quality and customer service. Job Description
Education:
Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination and must be certified and maintain a certification in sterile processing as a CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) and have at least two (2) years’ experience in sterile processing.
Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification preferred.
The individual must pass the internal department exam and requirement for the position.
Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes. Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Basic computer skills required. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment required. Leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Detail oriented required.
Travel may be required.
Holiday work and emergency management/disaster teamwork required.
If expectations are not met, individual will be demoted with pay reduction.
